So we're off to a rowdy start. Sam, Ori and Addie's flight was canceled in Raleigh yesterday morning, so they missed the transatlantic flight and Craig, Ellis and Natalie were late arriving in Johannesburg, so they missed their connection to Malawi. No worries. We will all meet (fingers xed) at the gate in Johannesburg tomorrow and continue as planned.
Not sure how the first half of the crew spent their extra time in NYC, but Craig and the Colemans enjoyed getting to see a little bit of Johannesburg. We traveled to Soweto--the township where Nelson Mandela lived--and toured his home. Our excellent and very understanding driver Deon took us on a drive around one of Africa's largest cities (pop 4.5 million), helped us fend off jet lag and did not miss a beat when we all fell asleep in his car.
Thought for the day...
We hope to report tomorrow that we have arrived in Malawi!
